Jost VanDyke: "Entertaining diversions of self-reflection has led me to contemplate the premise that choices we make navigating life's challenges
inevitably leads to the present moment. Think about it: the peregrination of our soul's unfoldment through time and space, measured by calendars and clocks, positioned at precise geographical degrees of a longitude and latitude intersection, is right NOW! "Where you are, there you are".
Ergo, it's indeed mystifying to ponder: how in the world did a New York trained concert pianist, far from fitness minded fine art photographer, ever wind upon a hot pink yoga mat teaching Pilates. Simply put, aside from the omniscient providence factor, it WORKS! Through the years, I suffered, like alot of pianists/instrumentalists, with chronic physical twinges and emotional stress-related tension. It goes with the territory. In addition, I had physical handicaps and disabilities other therapeutic remedies failed to amend. Since attending the first Pilates class back in 2003, I have been a dedicated, diligent devotee. Granted, similar to any other worthwhile discipline, Pilates has its inherent challenges of execution and precision. Yet, after six months, I began to experience a miraculous change in my overall physique and emotional, spritual well-being. The long-term, transformative potency of Pilates on body-mind strength, flexibility, endurance, poise and awareness is undeniable.
With this mind, after receiving SCW certification with June Kahn, I began leading Pilates classes at LEGENDS and PREMIER FITNESS gyms. In March 2007, I joined the team at JOURNEYS IN YOGA, teaching yogalates, a unique fitness practice combining elements of yoga and Pilates."
Jan Dzurik:
"Jan began sharing her love of yoga with the students of Leon High School in an after school yoga club and at Prana Power Yoga.
Jan's yoga practice is influenced by her background and education in dance, martial arts and physical therapy. Her teaching style is also influenced from her love of nature, poetry, spiritual texts and by her training in the Ashtanga and Vinyasa styles. She is currently enrolled in Stillpoint Yoga's PranaVinyasa teacher training program offered here in Tallahassee at Journeys in Yoga.
In our chaotic, confusing, and at times seemingly meaningless world, yoga provides Jan with peace, stillness of mind, a deepening of the present moment, acceptance of self and others, and most importantly, spiritual clarity. Jan considers each practice an offering and a prayer to Spirit."
Stephanie Turnau:
“Stephanie began practicing yoga in 2000 to find a new way of working out and instead found a new way to live. After moving to Florida, she became inspired to deepen her practice and completed the Dragonfly Yoga Studio’s teacher training program in 2007. She is immensely grateful to all of her teachers.” Jackie Britt-Mills:
“I started practicing yoga in 1997 striving for a healthy and balanced lifestyle. After my first class, I knew I was on the right path. My yoga background is in Ashtanga and Vinyasa; however, I have enjoyed many different styles and teachers over the years. I moved to Tallahassee with my husband and son Zander in 2004 and found an embracing yoga community here.
I am currently enrolled in the Yoga Alliance 200 hour Stillpoint PranaVinyasa teacher training program being offered here at Journeys in Yoga. My educational background focused on sociology. My interest in people's well-being and my passion for yoga has guided me to share the love and light of a yoga practice with others. I started leading classes at Journeys in Yoga in the summer of 2007.
Yoga provides me with the strength, balance, flexibility and lightness of being that I need to move through life. Yoga helps me to find the light that keeps me positive. Everyone is a student and a teacher, both on and off the mat. I am grateful for all of my teachers.”
